What stocks to trade ?

I day traded for about 8 months last year and did not do very well. I am going to start again and am questioning what stocks I should trade. I have read that you need a basket of stocks where you have a Tier one stock which is your lead indicator for your other stocks. I have been trying to research Tier 1, 2 3 stocks on the internet and haven't had much luck. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I trade listed stocks and am pretty familiar with 3-10 stocks in about 6 or 7 sectors. The leaders aren't the same each day. I'd look to the sectors that have news or are moving with volume, indicating institutional money flow. But there are so many ways to trade, you have to find something that you are comfortable with.
