What service you use to connect to the Internet?

LOL
The lowest in the middle 90s was 2.4k/4.8k with dialup modem.
Typo there.

Was there a typo here?

1.90 kbps, this is a very slow modem speed. About 2000 times slower than a DSL.

Took this test the other day on fios

Internet speed is VERY relative. It depends on time of day, browser, Operating system (on older computers Linux is 20-30% faster than XP),wired/wireless, etc.

If I pick a server 1700 miles away it drops to 8 Mb/s. If you really need to scalp and such, check it to a distance where your broker is....
As long as you are statisfied with the speed and your execution time is fast enough for you, the speed is what it is...

Are you running cable ?

I'm near Houston and on my cable, no matter where I click on in the in Tx or anywhere in the continental U.S I get pretty close to 10.8 to 11 mb/s consistently. The only measurement that increases is the ping rate.

how's it possible to get such high upload speed? is it your location? or service you pay for? anyway, I get 25Mbps/2.5Mbps for mine. I think it's time for Whiteout56 to step in and bust you all with his blazing speed.

quick question: I recently added another PC to the WAN, and it seems like it's reduced the speed.....before it was like 30Mbps/4Mbps.....is this common?

have to enter your zip code.

Thanks, I looked into it but they didn't have service in the area I needed. Probably will sooner or later though.

I notice they have "mobile" and "home" service, but can you just take the home modem with you to a different location or is it somehow locally registered? I would be running a router with several computers, so I don't see how I could use the mobile setup.
