I support Ron Paul and am against big government. However, some countries do perfectly fine with bureacratic governments.
Scandinavian countries do very well even with their loathsome governments. They consistently have the highest standards of living ratings. Norway was #1 for several years in a row. You guys can bring up the healthcare argument, but it's pretty irrelevant considering that the statistics show that citizens of these countries have great health and are on average live longer than Americans.
Just because there is big government, it shouldn't mean that it is a evil entity. For some countries big government is good, for others it is detrimental.
The United States is an example of a country that will not do well with a increasingly bloated government. It's too diversely populated, large and too important to the global economy. To remain efficient a free market must exist.
The U.S. needs to provide greater incentives for some people to work. People do not seem ashamed to sit on their asses. Welfare does not work in the US.
In Scandinavian countries as well as Germany (best welfare programs in the world), welfare works because people eventually get off their ass and do something. It's a means to get back on their feet. These people are embarrassed to be sustained by the government. In the U.S, people are content just receiving help from the government forever.
In the welfare example, as long as people don't try to take advantage of the system, the programs will work. The US is too huge to prevent people from taking advantage of the system. Also, its a culture of individualism so people are geared to take advantage of it, whereas other nations are more about communities.

1. Your political perspective began when Obama announced he's running for POTUS.
2. Your world perspective began when Obama announced he's running for POTUS.
3. Your knowledge about Pak, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan began when Obama announced he's running for POTUS.
4. Your knowledge of the Israel/Palestinian issues began when Obama announced he's running for POTUS.
