What motivates journal writers?

My guess would be they are into abuse.

I gave up journal posting a while ago because of that.

My impression is that journal writers (if they are struggling and looking for help) end up even more confused after they receive feedback on their journals. The reason is that there are so many conflicting ideas/suggestions/advice.

Disagree entirely.

Put it in writing, stay focused, most people are helpful. Learn to filter what you don't need.

If you are not keeping a journal of some type, you will not be able to reflect on your successes and failures for learning.

When you are rich, you will already have the material to give your publisher.

If you keep a journal to learn from past mistakes I think thats what most people do. But when you get rich and wan't to retire you could always give it to a protege.
