Hey Marketsurfer can I get your opinion on exotic/less traded markets ?

Do you think there is more opportunity/less competition in less traded markets say the EUR/USD would have way more participants than USD/RUB (russian Ruble)

I have spent my trading career placing large directional bets on the majors, even though I made quite a bit of money the moves just don't compare to and think its time to branch out.

there is absolutely more opportunity in less traded markets, but that is in exchange for higher risk. Liquidity has its advantages and disadvantages. good luck!! surf

You don't mention whether you're systematic or discretionary. If the former, backtesting will tell you what you need to know, but if the latter, only praxis can.

Discretionary, but ya I will commit a portion of my funds to an exotics strategy and see how I perform over the next few weeks

I believe losing can be good--- the reason is

You remember everything from every big loss. Not so from a big win. These lessons of loss are etched into your brain forever. I still remember big losses from 1992. My wins all blur together.
A pro poker player friend taught me how to articulate this phenomenon. Surf
