What leverage should be good for a newbie to use?

I remember researching this a while back and learned that most professionals prefer a 1:100 leverage.

when i was a newcomer i used 1:50 leverage in a real account but in demo it was 1:100 and sometimes i used high to see the performance how it works.

For starters new traders use cash stocks or ETFs. FOR max fun + max lo0sses use\ as much leverage /4X, forex as you can.[sarcasm]2nd best option after losingmore than we planned , use cash markets to learn trading sorry thats not as much fun but more profits.

Lower leverage is better for beginner traders, and it also depends on your risk management and trading experience.

Leverages can be risky even though there is more powerful analyzing trade knowledge and experience.

I would never recommend anything more than 10x for newbie. If you have master your understanding in risk management and money management, then you can gradually increase your leverage to 20x or 30x. But still, I don't recommend more than that, however!

Well, leverage can be set at 1:100 or 1:500 and risk can be instead controlled by lot size. However high leverage can make trading more vulnerable to mistakes so for a newbie it makes sense to start from small leverage like 1:50 or 1:100. Personally I started from 1:50 leverage at Hotforex and later increased it as I understood it influence on trading.

Leverage is not defined by what you trade - it is the size of your position(s). Betting to big is much more harmful than betting to small.

The Kelly Criterion for leverage shows that using leverage beyond 1.6x is not a good idea. A winning strategy without leverage becomes a losing one when using to much leverage.

When Soros took down the British pound the leverage he used was < 2x. He considered this by very high leverage.
