What kind of workstation to buy? (Dell, HP,...please help a non computer guy)

2k resolution is standard these days, aka 1080P. The vintage computers, approximately 4 years old can handle 4k, aka 3840x2160 pixels. All you need is a decent graphics card for about $50 bucks. The nvidia 410, 450 can run 4x 1080p monitors and the nvidia fx580 can run 2x 4k monitors. One 4k monitor displays the same amount of data as 4x 1080p monitors.
2K resolution is 1440 not 1080. 1080 if Full HD. Now I am in decision in one PC of the above.

Here's a link to 2k resolution. No where does it say 1440x1080 is 2k. The 2k monitor is slight more pixels than 1080P but the extra money for 2k monitor isn't worth it, you're better off buying 4k 40" monitor.

OK 2K monitor have 2560x1440 resolution.....40" is to big for me...I already bought the 27" monitor with 2560x1440 so now I am looking to buy just a PC.

i like to buy refurbished industrial class xeon workstation, you can find them on ebay for about .20 cents on the dollar, maybe less. Xeon quad core seem to have good price point, gammers tend to shy away. intc market I5 and i7 to gammers, so the xeon is left for traders and CAD/CAM users.
But I am not sure which graphics card will run native 2k resolution.

1920x1200 is sort of the "baseline" resolution today. Just about any card made in the last 10 years will support that. Moving res up to 2560x1600 or 4k, may require a better card.

You know I am referring to 2k monitors only. Thanks for the update but the actual 2k resolution is 2048×1080. I have not come across a 2048×1080 monitor for under $200 bucks worth buying. But who would, when a 4k monitor is available for same price.

Huh! I was thinking "2k" was a generic shortcut for "1920x1200". Is the 2048 analog instead of digital?.... not that it matters.

Who the fack needs a 4K monitor for their trading machine? You trading on the trading machine, or playing video games?

It's not difficult, people.
Anyone can trade, even monkeys and middle graders. A differnt story to trade fulltime and consistenctly return double diget profit.
If you're an author, programmer and algo trader, 4k resolution may not be enough. Why waste $ on 1080p when 4k is the new standard. Each to their own but lets not promote out dated technology.
