a spinal injury is my biggest fear too. everytime i see footage of Nick Buoniconti Jr., or Christopher Reeves, i just shake my head. i couldn't do it.Quote from traderich:
Mine is being paralyzed in a car or motorcycle accident.
I wouldn't be able to live if I couldn't walk. I would kill myself.
I have the greatest respect and admiration for those that can live their lives in a wheelchair.
I sold my 'donor machine' as well as my 158 mph top speed car.
I guess I won't have any more nightmares and wake up in a sweat as my nightmare is being put to rest.
Quote from Thunderdog:
Let's take a few moments for a bit of self-indulgent introspection, by answering four questions.
1. Presently, what is your single biggest fear in life? It need not be limited to the trading arena.
2. How, and to what extent, do you think this fear has either helped or hindered you?
3. If you have found that, on balance, your fear has hindered you, what steps do you think you would need to take in order to overcome that fear?
4. If you are not presently taking these steps, what prevents you from doing so? (If, indeed, you have found that your fear serves as a hindrance.)

Nobody has mentioned going blind........
Want some fear, try on a blindfold for a few hours. Damn.
Best i ever managed was around 10 minutes, i think.
Seriously, you should try it, no cheating-see how you feel after what you think is hours, but is seconds.

my cousin's a mechanic, and he bought a motorcycle to teach himself how to fix them. supposedly motorcycle mechanics make a lot of money because there are so few good ones out there. then naturally he started riding it despite my warnings not too. 2 weeks later he hit a pothole at 30 MPH, was thrown from the bike, and shredded the skin off of his arm, elbows, and hands. as macabre as it may sound, i was happy he got thrown. he learned his lesson early. while i respect your opinion and aged wisdom, i hope the day doesn't come in which i decide to mount a donor machine, and expose myself to rocks, potholes, and oncoming traffic. there are plenty of pursuits in this world that i'd find equally, if not moreso, enjoyable, which won't take unnecessary risk to life and limb.Quote from agpilot:
Sammy and traderich: Tisk.. It's sad to read your restrictive mind set toward others. Some didn't like my becoming a "crop-duster" pilot either. Thank God I did NOT listen to them because that was the most personal rewarding thing I did in my life as I now look back from old age.. I am thankful there are risk takers to set the standards for others to reach out for in their own lives.
I hope you decide some day to come out of your shell of security.
