there is no such thing as YOU VS Mr.Market or Mr.market vs YOU.
the ocean does what does. if you are a surfer, then learn how to surf, make fun of the surfing opportunities the ocean gives you.
do not think you could not surf because the ocean makes you so.
such as those silly ideas of "ocean is dangerous",
"ocean will destroy you",
"ocean always beats you",
....
those are your refletive feelings. not the truth
if you have "ocean always win" thought, you will fiind you always are on the ocean bank: you regret you missed lots of good surfing opportunities
or you are surfing but get hurt badly, just like magically, just like the sentence "ocean always win" predicts!
the truth is OCEAN has no purpose to beat you, and you always can take advantage of the OCEAN.
if you want to shoot high, go with high waves, that is it. think about OCEAN is a toy or a tool for you to do something which is in your interest.
look here is my trading rules.
1. I am able to act in my best interest in any kind of market situations
2. I am able to pick winners and avoid losers
3. I am able to cut loss short
4. I am able to ride winners as long as I can
5. I am able to avoid indecisive market situations
6. I am able to not let winners become losers
7. I know when to enter and when to exit
8. I know what I should do and what I should not do
9. I am able to distinguish traps and true setups
10. I am able to maximize profit and take full advantage of the best opportunity in the session
11. I am able to minimize the damage of a worst-case scenario I am involved.
12. I am able to honor my trading rules, my physical limitations, my financial limitations, and laws, rules applied against me by Exchange, broker firms, government authorities.
13. I am able to eliminate distractions: my emotions, my ego, my reasoning, my analysis, my arguments with the tape, my intelligence, others from forums, news, TV, friends, and many relevant or irrelevant things such as the last trade¡¦s results, illusions, day dreaming, family chores.
14. I am able to focus on the trade¡¦s entry, loss cutting, profit trailing and exit on the right time.
15. I am able to be practical, not academic.
16. I am able to be a doer, not a talker.
I enjoy the MRAKET. market is just a tool. a toy. a casino machine.

I have lived in Hawaii for 50 years, obviously surrounded by the ocean. From an early are we are taught to respect the ocean.
The ocean is a dangerous place, but you are correct that the ocean is not out to destroy you. If your actions are not in alignment with how the ocean operates, there will be consequences.
There was a big "stink" when a statue of Duke Kahanamoku was erected at Waikiki beach, his back is facing the water, which is a cardinal sin. Never turn your back on the ocean.
The point about the "ocean will beat you" is to have humbleness and respect and don't turn your back on the ocean. If you have a me vs. ocean mentality then most definitely "the ocean will destroy you."
