What is the worst thing you do when you get mad at a bad trade?

i think part of my problem also is that i am scared to lose and thrilled to win...these markets are hard and maybe it is becoming easier to do that...

Natural feeling ... the scared/ecstacy part ... BUT ... losing is part of the game for EVERYONE! And to trade "scared" may have a negative psychological impact on your ability to succeed long term. If the losses scare you then take them quickly so they're negligible. No one likes to lose because we want to be right ... that big ego (most of us have) gets in the way.

I would say "give up."
Sometimes I just have a good cry when it is a really stupid loss.....:p

taking a loss is more courageous than taking a win: that's how you can reassure yourself :D

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has any little tricks they use to re-assure themselves that their system is fine and that it's perfectly fine to get slammed every now and then in a trade.

**I don't trade a mechanical system. I'm an old school tape/support/resistance aka "price action" trader.

Thanks in advance,

I'm one of those newbie psychotherapists wanna be traders. For what it's worth In my profession I did a lot of anger work both personally and with clients. I found that a thick auto heater rubber hose (made by goodyear) slammed on the floor is a great release of anger. It made a very satisfying thunk and you don't hurt your wrists. Dynamically, It often came up that anger was a way of not experiencing fear. I think you alluded to that in your initial post. The hard part is to identify what it is that you're afraid of.

I still think thump'in the fleshy hose is better! It also make a "satisfying thunk" and you usually "don't hurt your wrists" (depending of course, on your technique). :p
