What is the minimum DSL speed you need to trade options??

I know this question has been asked before...Maybe here or on other forums. My DSL went down for a few minutes. I don't have a back up. I could use a phone app, but have chosen not to. With my trading style, I could go for days and not loose much money...Just opportunities to buy in a down market. Just me...That is why I choose the cheapest speed possible and live with it.

I was freaking out to see if a order went thought. Then I started to reflect on the world outside...And of course I thought of The Simpsons!! Less freaking and more enjoying spring. I had no orders that HAD to be cleared/filled.

Again, the slowest speed you could live with...

Schwab and Fidelity...I will wait for 5G to get to my town.

I am sort of an old school guy...I have 1 ATM and two credit cards. I don't own a debit card...Don't want to have to clear up messes if they occur. Keep it simple stupid.

I am not a day trader...That makes a difference. The question is for day traders.

Was also thinking of the Robinhood phone app mess a few years ago...
 
It depends on the latency and volume of data you need. If you're just watching a few charts and manually day-trading, you don't need much.

I could trade using dial-up or a satellite phone if I had to. I have traded on satellite internet before, as mentioned in another thread. I don't trade off charts, though, so I don't know if that requires much data speed or not. (Mostly everything I do is systematic by the time it comes to production.)

That said, @ZBZB has a great suggestion. If you get comfortable using a phone as a wifi hotspot, you'll never go back. I do it ALL the time. It's easy to do.

4G wifi hotspots are more than enough. Turn it on in settings. You can cancel dsl then.
 
You don't need an app. Just use your phone and whatever browser it has and login to your account just like on a PC. Then you can see if the trade filled, or just trade as needed.
