What is the broader relevance of Ayn Rand for society?

Ayn Rand preached savagery. The modern starry-eyed "Libertarian" place it alongside their Bible. Both books are absurd.
Here's a book that's more your speed:

If Ayn Rand preached an obvious philosophy based upon reasonable and rational men (and women, of course), yet this philosophy was - while widely read - rejected out of hand, would that not mean that her philosophy was not obvious to many? I mean, I've met a lot of folks who talk about how Atlas Shrugged changed their life, then in their next breathe they tell me about their new plan for big government.

IMO, people read stuff but they do not digest it.

Name one far left government that has provided a better standard of living for more people than America, the most capitalistic society on earth has for more people.

You cant, that in and of itself should tell you that your ideology is a failure, now as we go further and further left America is in decline, and you donkeys on the left want to turn it into a communist state so we can match the likes of cuba and venezuela, but somehow you think this time it will be different.

If we're "in decline", it looks like we have a long ways to go before we really need to start worrying:
