What is the best book on technical analysis?

Quote from steve46:

Sir or Madam;

A Couple of suggestions for you. First if you are a newby, you should be aware that almost all the others here are either 1. newbies themselves, or 2. Newbies masquarading as traders, or 3. Trading "failures" who can't make a profit and are trolling for info. This implies that YOU are probably one of the three yourself.

If that is the case, I suggest you think for minute, and ask yourself the obvious questions

1. How likely is it, that I will learn something new, useful or important, from another newbie trader.

2. How likely is it, that instead of learning something new, I will have to endure some pompus asshole like canfiel telling me what is and isn't important?

3. How can I cut to the chase and get whatever is of value here?

It has been quite a while now, since a decent professional commented here. As a result, what you are doing is probably counter productive. What you might want to consider is making a list of important topics and then using the search feature at the top of the home page, to find whatever you can from the stored archives. I think you will much more of value to you that way.

Good luck.
Steve

You may be more comfy here www.tmz.com

I am very comfortable right here, but thanks for your concern.

Perhaps you are giving up on trading, and are interested in a career as an Internet tour guide. Good luck with that.

Yes you told her money management. That was a good comment

Telling to avoid TA is another good comment, because it is a huge waste of time for the newbie.

And how I trade has nothing to do with it. I have no plans to impart my methods to others. You don't exactly see people falling over themselves on ET to reveal their precise methods everytime a newbioe asks, so I don't see why you are expecting anything different here.

How you trade has everything to do with your presence here. I would not expect you to share the details of your approach. But for someone who simply exists here to bash TA in a room filled with active traders why dont you enlighten us? Just a simple explanation is all I seek. Call is curiosity. Fundamentals ? news driven? hunch? quantitative? tides? lunar cycle? information? darts?

Personally I trade using TA, no indicators simply price. Consolidation patterns only. Pennants, wedges, triangles, rectangles and breakouts/downs. Have so for 7 years..and it works very well for me.

That being said we all need to find the way ourselves. So why dont you pay all those folks that answer your polls you so enjoy placing up and share a little bit of knowledge?

ahhahahahahahhaha

"The profitability of Technical Analysis"

Give me a friggin break!!!!!

TA is not profitable, you as a trader are...

This is really getting old. I promise to not debate this as it's really coming from the most lazy and stupid academics out there who find it really easy to contradict something they learn in the books.

And by the way, most of the books out there teach you stuff that the other 90% of the starting traders learn about.

Learn what they all learn and then try to do things so that you don't do what the rest do!
