What is Motivation in Trading?

Greed is derived from human nature.
And human evolved to be greedy scheming creature because of god pointing evolution in that direction.

The motivation for every trader is not always gaining monetary benefit, there are some exceptional traders who don't the only trader for money but they trade to learn more and more and become an expert yet experienced trader. Each failure in the trade motivates them to come up with it and perform again.

What is the motivation in becoming experienced trader?
If experience would not be related to monetary benefits would those exceptional traders still trade?
