What is "ES" ?

Quote from Roger Hershey:

I will definitely go to that site, peg leg, much appreciated.

Easy--1 more quicky... Say I have $5,000, tell me how many ES I can trade, and if you know, how many SPX futures can I trade with the same amount? In other words, can you give me an example of using leverage with these ES.

Many thanks.

1. $5K is enough to trade 1 ES unless your broker allows you to daytrade with less margin... then you might be able to trade 2 or 3.
2. The face value of 1 ES = about $50K right now. That's the leverage.
3. Minimum margin for the full SP contract is >$20K.
4. The full SP can be sort-of traded online, but it's not an electronic market. That is, orders may be placed online, but they are routed through the open outcry pit and executed in "normal" style. (This often results in greater slippage for market orders.)

as a matter of fact. I alittle younger.

Jack's a terrific fella, quite misunderstood.

Like me.:)

And many thanks to ebo and gnome and the others for helping me understand exactly what e-mini futures are.

The previous time I asked, someone gave me the wrong answer (told me they were the spiders)! Why would someone mislead me?

quote from Monsoon :

9 out of 10 traders fail

quote from merc:

Does the failure in ES trading much higher than stocks trading, taking into the account that e-mini trading is much simpler, only one thing to focus on?

Risk management is the key.
Risk management of 1% or less should be rule of thumb for all trades.
