1) Arithmetic manipulations of price are only randomly good, not consistently good.
2) You also become a "slave" to the duration of the indicator.

CCI, Stochastics, MACD and MACD histogram, all with different value settings.

Put as many indicators as you can on your charts until you can hardly see price anymore. Then you know you have it right.
