You miss the point. We only provide security to the Saudi's to get guaranteed supply of oil. Chinese want oil and can offer security also.

Cause I can't see keeping troops in S. Korea anymore. That country has turned thoroughly anti-American. Let them defend themselves.

The U.S. is in S. Korea for the purpose of protecting Taiwan from China. Taiwan desires to recieve indepedence from the mainland, but communist China obviously objects to giving away such an economic power house. China has threathend to do whatever it takes to get back control of Taiwan - even said that it is willing to use nuclear weapons.

So anyway, America is attempting to contain the ever powerful growing China. If the U.S. Navy were not in the middle between mainland China and Taiwan, the Chinese military would overwhelm Taiwan and regain it. If China possesses Taiwan, it would be much more difficult to contain it in the future. Japan also fears the rise of China.
