What if iPhone is built in the US due to charging high tariff for imports

Iphone battery's are fine, just people who own iphones are always on them, that's the issue.

Ran an iphone 4 for 2 years, but other makes Honor user here, are 99% the same for a lot less money.

People actually think there special cause they pay over the odds for an iphone, this annoys me, but guess there right kinda

Massive production drives the cost down. When iPhone lose majority sales, cost per unit will drastically increases even with automaton because it won't be able to produce as much as before. Probably iPhone will cost twice as now. I doubt average consumers in US will be able to afford it.

Someone estimated that the Iphone 7 costs $225 to make ( basically....I don't remember the exact figure but it was low 200's) and they sell it for $699.

And if you upgrade from 32GB to 128GB it is another $100 but it only costs $8 extra to actually create the additional storage.

Apple has a LOT of wiggle room to negotiate prices and profits.

There is a lot of negative consumer sentiment against companies that don't pay taxes, register their companies overseas to avoid taxes and move their production overseas. All of which Apple does.

Apple and other companies need to consider what it will cost them if they DON'T move their facilities back to the states.

They won't increase the retail price, they'll just have to live with lower profit margins.

$700, $800, $900.....is a lot of money to spend on a cell phone when you can get one for a third of the price. And perform the same services. It might not be as pretty or as fast, but it's a lot cheaper. I think 800 bucks or so is the top end of what people will pay for a smartphone. I think people will balk at paying $1000. That is when they will reconsider what they are spending their money on.

BTW, Instead of condemning the U.S. for trying to return jobs to the country, what kinds of tariffs do other countries charge to import the same product? What kinds of tariffs does China impose if they import steel from the U.S., washing machines, cars, etc....? I bet their tariffs are much higher than ours to import the same product from China.

I use a $29 smart phone I bought brand new (LG). It does everything an I phone does - the battery lasts all day - I watched videos on on all day airplane flight and only used less than half of the battery.

iPhone 6 battery is just 1810mAh. The huge 6 Plus only has 2915mAh. iPhone 7 only has 1960 mAh. Most higher end Chinese phones have over 3000mAh, even my 2 year old Xiaomi does and it was only $220.

Apple does this on purpose to force people get the newer models, it's also why they don't have removable batteries.

They're more efficient though, it's say you get about the same amount of screen on time despite the smaller batterys.

That's why I don't understand the success of Apple. Their marketing must be very good to find millions of idiots over and over again to sell their products to at prices 5 times the real production cost.

As a trader I want value for my money, so I can never buy anything from Apple. I would feel like an idiot.

Apple is piling up billions of dollars outside of the US and pays almost zero taxes. Billions that are paid by US taxpayers are exported out of the US.
But a lot of US companies do the same in Europe. They don't pay there taxes either. Starbucks, Amazon, Kellog's....

So if the IRS wants Apple to pay, they should agree that the same applies in other countries, but there they have a different opinion. US companies should pay in the US, but not in Europe. US government is raising pressure on Europe to avoid a heayvy taxation of Apple in Ireland. If it would be in the US they would have to pay, in Europe not.

They where giving 1 away yesterday, when you bought a £20 to up card, basic as, small plastic screen no doubt but £20.

We use Samsung Fames at work, I dev'd a app, or reads a bar code, takes before and after photos and records when the work was done, cheap as.

My honor 6 plus was £250.

My $29 phone has a Corning Gorilla glass display the same size as the Iphone-6, the battery on my cheapo phone is nearly 3 X's larger than the Iphone and rivals it big time when you look at every spec. I have even traded from my $29 phone. I like to get good deals which is easy to do by ignoring what the trendy herd always does.
