Oh, yes they are. Xi Jinping is especially stupid in the sense that he thinks he can outpower and outmaneuver USA. Building a man-made islands in the middle of the international water and pretend that they have ownership shows just how stupid the dude is.

If he ever attacks Taiwan, I am most certain USA will not sit idle as it is doing now amidst the Ukrainian conflict. While there's not much to gain or lose strategically from Ukraine, there is a lot to lose if Taiwan goes the way of Hongkong. Also this will tip the balance in the Far East Asia.

Finally, it's worth remembering that USA has well over 20 years of war experience. China has zero. If I were Xi, this would not be a good time to flex muscle against USA.

In the 5 pages since The_Krakenite wrote this, no one has even commented or acknowledged the post? Why? Because it cant be disputed. It is the argument that makes the notion of the US defending Taiwan a joke. Never gonna happen. There will only be yet more sanctions. And these sanctions are killing the world around us.
 
Interesting developments on the Taiwan -China front!
While Taiwan's President Tsai suffered a humiliating local electoral defeat and resigned as head of the pro independence DPP to the benefit of the pro China KMT, China is experiencing the most vocal anti government protests since the 1989 Tienanmen protests, some even calling for Xi's removal, something quite extraordinary for dictatorial China.
It's as if the people of China and Taiwan are telling their leaders that war isn't the answer to the growing tension between the 2 Chinese nations.

Well for the record, Taiwan did not ever want to go to war with China; they just do not want to belong to China. It's China who wants to take over Taiwan and of course people are not happy about that. No matter how pro-China KMT is, I don't think they are too keen on going back to belonging to China either. With China dead set on taking over Taiwan via military means, Taiwan has no choice but to seek help. After all, it's KMT themselves who escaped to Taiwan in the first place when they got defeated in the civil war 70 years ago. If they didn't mind belonging to China, why did they make all those efforts to leave China? Really after 70+ year, now they want to go back to China?? LOL
