That is absolutely false. The message board software used there lets the administrator alter the time that "Current Active Users" are calculated with. He could make his board look like it only had a handful of users by changing the time of last activity to a few seconds, or he could make the current active users number look huge by changing it to hours or even days. It's one of the tricks that board owners use to make their site look larger than it really is.
But even if the figures were entirely manufactured, that doesn't change the fact that the administration doesn't follow its own TOU.
The "Scribbles" thread, for example, was begun for the sole purpose of ridiculing my approach and those who are -- or at least were -- trying to learn it. "Harassment" doesn't even begin to cover it. And yet one of your representatives thought the whole thing was "amusing".
If this is the environment you want, fine. It's your site. But let's not be disingenuous about the atmosphere at ET.
I have 1900 Likes. Even if one deducts those I've received in the P&R Forum, they amount to well over a thousand. And the number of followers I have -- 180 -- isn't too shabby either (the number earned by the P&R Forum denizens don't even make the list). I say this not to pat myself on the back but to show that more than a few people are interested in what I have to say. But the hassle of saying it becomes more and more tiresome, and one eventually has to wonder if it's all worth it when there are other places that are at least managed.
