What happened to the dollar?

Can anyone educate my on why the dollar has risen so quickly against the euro this week?

I know stocks well but am still learning forex. Thanks.
 
No,. it's just flight to quality. When global risk aversion arise and everyone is unsure where to go, the ol' USD still ranks as the first place to park your money.
 
USD funding needs by Eurobanks. cannot access USD cp market, so they borrow in Euroland and convert to USD.

Lot of unwinding in carry trade with fund in Yen; but lot of secured debts are termed in USD; so when people rush back to Yen; they must repay them in USD first.
