First with Ill get the whole birther/truther/deather/whatever issue out of the way. I dont believe in any of that, nor have i ever believed in it, and i have started many threads to try to debunks that stuff.
What would i have done in Obamas place to curb spending? First off I would not have used 800 billion via the stimulus in a give away to government employees. The total amount that cost us per job was about 600k per job. If we wanted to blow money that way we could have given temporary tax breaks to private companies, where by the company that hired someone on would have gotten a subsidy for the entire wage of the employee for the first year. That would have gotten it rolling in the private sector again instead of wasting money on stupid programs like studying the side effects of cocaine on monkeys, many jobs would have been lost, but the private sector would have been hiring people on at a rate of 40k per year as opposed to 600k per year. Most private companies would hire on an employee if it was no cost to them, because we subsidised the entire wage.
Second dont start a new entitlement program(Obamacare) when we are currently spending the vast majority of our money on other entitlements.
Third, All federal spending is frozen until we are back to a surplus. Does it even make sense that we give most federal employees raises while we are running a deficit? If this was happening in the private sector how long would the company last?
Fourth pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan, and i mean everyone, dont leave 50k troops there and proclaim "mission accomplished" Pull out of all other foreign bases.
5th No more foreign aid to any other country in the world. How can we justify spending money overseas when we dont have it at home.
6th defense/medicare/social security all get a 25% cut. You cant tell me that a good business person couldnt go in and weed out waste in
ALL of these programs. How do you think airlines have managed to operate for so long?
7th Dont start a new "consumer protection bureau" Like the One Elizabeth Warren and Obama created. If we learned something it should be that every single regulatory body missed out on the housing bubble, whats the need for more new regulatory bodies?
8th If this gets us to a point where minor tax increases would balance the budget then raise the taxes a little, under one basic premise. Taxes are never allowd to be raised again under any circumstance, unless our country is legitamately under attack, and i mean on our soil. Government is never allowed to spend anymore money that would increase the deficit. Government can only grow at the pace tax revenue does, without raising taxes.
finally 9th, Fire that piece of shit Bernanke. him and greenspan have caused as much damage in their short tenure in the states as every president combined.
Edit: 10th Actually return the money which is coming back to the government through TARP to the government. This is another accounting gimick all the TARP money is just going right back out the door.
