As a general rule currencies are thought to trend more often than other tradeables.
Also there are seasonal trends to grains, cattle, hogs, unleaded & nat gas and crude. These seasonal trends are a good place to start IF you have sufficient knowledge of the market and infrastructure.

Based on your post, I would suggest you become an observer rather than a trader. I suggest you observe some of these markets until you have some idea of which one(s) you wish to trade. Take it a step at a time.
