Zelensky said he will not accept anything other than a complete Ukraine victory. That means this war will drag on for years down the line. He has lost the Donbass, Luhansk and Crimea regions before this war started. Putin is not going to give those areas back. So, Ukrainian civilians being sacrificed needlessly, by Zelensky. Go to the bargaining table and reach a peace deal----that is the only thing that will stop this war. Chances are good Putin will keep the east and south of Ukraine whether Zelensky agrees with it or not. Putin will claim it a victory once, he consolidates those areas.
Some of the cable pundits keep bloviating away about how May 8 or 9 is the big annual WW2 commemoration day in Russia, and that Putin wants to take the east or something significant by then to be able to declare victory success on that day.
Pretty hard to argue with that- given that Putin will be declaring a big YUGE success on that day regardless of what the situation on the ground will be. Guaranteed. He already has declared that he was able to withdraw from the Kviv area because the special military operation had successfully de-Nazified the area. Hell of a job Brownie.
Hard to argue against a full-blown war against Russia now. A year ago such an idea was ridiculous, now it's looking like a very possible reality. That "country" (Russia) needs to be split into different regions and each kept under strict control. Having lived near Russians most of my life, it was all known before but many in Western Europe have been completely delusional and in denial.
Hope those images make it to Russia somehow and when all those wealthy russians start suffering from global lockdowns of their businesses and the economy is crippled we can give them the finger and tell them "fuck you and enjoy! Dance with the bitch you brought to the party!"
