What does the new society organizing pattern for the world look like?

Quote from StarDust9182:

I agree with Renegen, that one outcome is that we continue to repeat the democracy cycle, albeit with some changes. People voting directly (internet, cellphones) on significant issues is one example. Politicians will fight this side-by-side with lobbyists I think. Both stand to lose control in a true democracy. For our democracy has some votes more equal that others' votes.

But one issue is democracy is that even a party getting in, may not actually have more than 50% of the vote. Canada's recent election is an example. Is that a true democracy or not?

I have mused that they should have a ballot on every vote that says none of the above. That could quickly humble the elected officials.

Secondly, one of our biggest issues is that many citizens are apathetic or uninformed, yet their vote counts equal to others who are experts on a subject. There may be other ways to vote. For example I often wonder how a system where you were given one vote per thousand of taxes you paid might work. If your taxes are funding the monster more than mine, then maybe your say should count more.

isn't that exactly whats happening now, special interests buying of the politicians, stupppp.....iiiii......dddd !!!!

Quote from RewriteQuran:

We don't need Congress.
With the proliferation of Internet and Cell phones we can directly vote on Bills and make Laws.

It doesn't have to be all-or-nothing.

Congress can still exist, BUT - a public vote on issues that AFFECT Congress should be added every 4 years.

For the 1st Public vote I would include.
1) Repeal Congress' ability to vote for/against their own pay increases.
2) Prohibit Congress from trading on inside information.
3) Repeal COLA increases and publicly-sponsored health-care.
4) Term limits.

What else should be in the INTERNET-DEMOCRACY-PUBLIC-VOTE?

:D :D

No more gold plated free healthcare for congressional members - let them buy it in the open market like many Americans - maybe then they will have an inkling as to what's going on.

Quote from StarDust9182:

One difference I was thinking of with animals is
The scary thing is when they show you the chart of dominance and extiction.

Nobody does too well until the dinasaurs come along. They are way up on the chart and rule for a long time. T

Very very few people actually want to do that. And they're not wrong for feelings that way.

new fangled technology...any way, the dinasuars are way up for a long time then they go poof.

Then they show the chart of humans, and it is like sky high, makes the dinasaurs look like ardvarks.

The good news is they have very good evidence that dinasaurs evolved into ostriches.

So if you study the charts it's a given that human beings are doomed for extinction but who knows what we could evolve into.

The one that really cracked me up was that wolves evolved into whales.

Amazing what these kids are doing in college these days.

Past performance does not guarantee future results.

If we do that, Congress will cease to exist.:)

Some interesting thoughts and observations here. Mostly around democracy and not too positive but not able to provide a better alternative.
Look where it got the Greeks and they invented it.
As it is, democracy fails. And why:-

1. The voters are swayed this way and that, not so much on rational, logical deductions but through self interest ( greed ) and flowery words ( Kennedy ).

2. The voters are easily persuaded to vote for lying politicians. Hitler was voted in by a democratic vote. He posed as THE saviour of Germany. Loads of lies about Aryan superiority etc

3. The US system can't just be parachuted into Iraq, Afghanistan etc. they aren't ready for it. They still fight to the death to win their arguments not sit around discussing it.

4. Thinly veiled corruption mostly elects Governments who have no intention of governing well - just plundering public money. Even the US Presidential elections are invariably won by the Party with the most money to "pay for votes".

5. The problems may be too complicated for an average person ( President ) to cope with. What qualifications have they ? Not a lot usually. Peanut farmer ( Carter ), film actor ( Reagan ), military ( Eisenhower, Kennedy), G. Bush last choice perhaps ?

Democracy has had its day and is now failing - it is time someone invented a better system, if we can. Cali is the richest state of the richest country supposedly and is bust. I think that just about sums it up, don't you ?

number 3 Load of crap IMO

You still buy the BS that we went into middle east to give them democracy, this is pure propaganda. We went into middle east for their resources and long term security to Israel.

We thought it would be easy, turns out it's not.

You say Democracy has failed, you are wrong, democracy was not practiced since JFK assassination.

You believe US has democracy, IMO you are smoking pure hashish propaganda.

You are voting for GOP or DEM puppets while Fed calls the shots, and you think you have democracy.
