What Does It Really Mean To Be "American"?

A big concept... could be the subject of a doctoral dissertation.

But as I was schooled in science... where I was taught, 1. Say what needs to be said, concisely, and 2. when you've said what's necessary, stop talking. (I managed to get through 6 years of college without ever writing a term paper, thank goodness.)... here's one American's "bottom line" explanation of what it means to be "American"...

"America" is not just a geographic location on the world map. It's also a mind-set and philosophy. Simply because you were born on American soil, you are not necessarily "American"

Fully aware of centuries of European rule and politics, The Founders gave us our Constitution and Bill of Rights so that we would never be like Europe.

So what's the "bottom line"? It's simply this. To be "American", you have to believe in the Constitution. You have to hold dear the notion of personal liberty, freedom to say and do what you want, freedom to fail or succeed, freedom to enjoy the benefits of your success... all without the government on your back. That's it.

Today within our borders, we have about 50% of the population who are not Americans.... those who do not believe in the Constitution and its constraints on big government. Instead, they want the Leftist/Communist-type government and society the Framers tried to preventing us from having to suffer.

Odumbo, Hellary, Bill, Reid, Peolsi, Schumer, Holder, Lynch, Waters, Rachel Maddow, et al... are NOT "Americans".

I reckon' it is not the subject of a doctoral dissertation. It never has been. To be an "American" is simply to believe in yourself as a "'Merican". This is a deep concept. If you do not know what that means, you do not deserve the ability to do a dissertation on it.

On the other hand, you are "An American" if you are a U.S.A.-born citizen, or are a naturalized citizen of the U.S.A. Being a 'Merican is not the same as being a US citizen.

The differences are very subtle and slight. But we don't need a doctoral dissertation to understand it, because we're 'Merican citizens. :-)

How can anyone even compare the two? When I think of Canada, I think of where people go who want to be babied. People that want someone else to take care of them go there.

And it really annoys me how they boast about their shitty healthcare system. Their care is substandard. When was the last time you heard of a rich American going to Canada to get treatment? But you hear of rich Canadians coming to America to get treatment all the time. And don't get me started on the wait times which just keep increasing year over year. Last year reached the longest wait times in history.

You truly are ignorant. Shitty health care lol. We live more then 2 years longer then you do, and pay far less for health care. These are objective facts. But you wallow in you ignorance and even gloat about it. It's all fair though, you should pay those higher costs because you are too dumb to know otherwise. Keep getting that "superior" care that every major third party rater of health systems rates lower then Canada. Just call it fake news while you pony up real dollars.

Blacks skew are numbers lower as they don't live as long as other races. Blacks are 2% of your population and 12.6% of ours. Also you have about twice the Asians as we do who just so happen to live a few good years longer than most whites in our countries.

Lets not forget that your wealthy live on the border so they can hop across anytime to get real healthcare. If they had to wait in your lines with everyone else I'm sure many of them would be dead.
