What does gun violence really COST

"Every single rifle is semi-automatic"

Couldn't be farther from the truth.

E.G.:

The Marlin 336 is a classic hunting rifle for big game. i.e. bear, deer, moose...etc.

I have a 336 30-30 in my closet. It only holds 6 shots and cannot be used to massacre large numbers of people. Several manufacturers make the same sort of gun. It is all the firepower you need to hunt big game. For each shot you have to crank the lever. No spraying allowed. Bears typically don't come in groups and try to kill you.

Assault style weapons are made for killing large numbers of people efficiently. There is no other rationale for such a weapon and it does not belong in civilian hands. I'm not sure it belongs in police hands. It's a military weapon.
Okay, you got me. Technically a bolt action rifle isn't semi'auto. And just how many people own these big game rifles? And being an expert you still don't seem to want to define what an assault weapon actually is. Why is that? An AR 15 is not an assault rifle. A mini 14 is not an assault rifle. I don't give a damn how much they look like one, they are not one. If it can't fire full auto it's not an assault weapon.
I know what an assault weapon is. I have used one, an M-16. I have had one used against me, an AK-47. I know what killing in large numbers looks like. Assault weapons aren't the problem because there aren't that many out there in the civilian population, least not in this country

The Calif desperadoes seem to have been using the Colt AR-15. This could not have been a full automatic version (select fire) because you need a special Federal license to have a fully automatic rifle in the US.

I presume it was the semi-automatic version. Still I say: why is anyone running around with a Colt AR-15? There is no legitimate use for such a weapon.

Up until recently you could buy that semi-auto Colt AR-15 at Wal-Mart.

I don't necessarily disagree, but hunters do have their preferences, which I why I originally wrote, we won't get an handle on this without stepping on someones rights.

Even if you made laws that banned guns across the country, the hundreds of millions of guns in circulation would still be obtained by people who don't care about the laws. Guns are completely removed from society in Paris, and the number of guns on the street in France is a tiny fraction of what we have here. Still, people got AK47s in and shot up everything.

Laws don't work when people are intent on murder.

Go play in traffic.

Gun laws DO work.

We realize that the problem isn't guns, so we don't look for solutions in guns. We understand and accept that the problem is people. Liberals, on the other hand, don't want to place blame on people - just inanimate objects. They don't want to address problems in the inner city, with the poor, etc. Just with guns.

Probably about as long as it takes for fucking idiots like yourself to understand where the problem actually is.

No, really, the problem is guns. Especially the easy access to them.

What is your chart? Adjusted numbers? Like the phony numbers you use for global warming? You think 'hey, we did it for global warming, let's do it for guns, too. "

Here's the real data.

What is the time period? Where is the gun death statistic?

Take your "data" and shove it.
