Okay, you got me. Technically a bolt action rifle isn't semi'auto. And just how many people own these big game rifles? And being an expert you still don't seem to want to define what an assault weapon actually is. Why is that? An AR 15 is not an assault rifle. A mini 14 is not an assault rifle. I don't give a damn how much they look like one, they are not one. If it can't fire full auto it's not an assault weapon."Every single rifle is semi-automatic"
Couldn't be farther from the truth.

The Marlin 336 is a classic hunting rifle for big game. i.e. bear, deer, moose...etc.
I have a 336 30-30 in my closet. It only holds 6 shots and cannot be used to massacre large numbers of people. Several manufacturers make the same sort of gun. It is all the firepower you need to hunt big game. For each shot you have to crank the lever. No spraying allowed. Bears typically don't come in groups and try to kill you.
Assault style weapons are made for killing large numbers of people efficiently. There is no other rationale for such a weapon and it does not belong in civilian hands. I'm not sure it belongs in police hands. It's a military weapon.
I know what an assault weapon is. I have used one, an M-16. I have had one used against me, an AK-47. I know what killing in large numbers looks like. Assault weapons aren't the problem because there aren't that many out there in the civilian population, least not in this country
