What does gun violence really COST

Guns, including semi auto pistols and "assault" rifles, have been around forever. So why the increase in mass shootings? What other common elements are present in all these cases?

Obama is awfully selective in his concerns. He wants to expose us to jihadists. He is not the least concerned about hordes of illegal immigrants and bogus refugees bringing in previously unknown or eradicated diseases. He doesn't mind the wave of crime illegals have brought with drug gangs, etc. He has no interest in harsher penalties for violent felons. He doesn't even want to deport violent illegal immigrants. He excuses mob violence like the Baltimore race riots.

But a shooting, provided it was by a white non-muslim, is just another thing altogether. Then we get the full compassion act, with the now-standard "demand" that we confiscate legally owned firearms. Oh, but he didn't say that? What do you thnk the result will be when they ban mags or semi autos? You think they are going to let you keep what you have? Dream on.

I agree that digging deeper will lead us to the real truths as to the reason for the increase in these senseless mass shootings. No one denies that a gun doesn't fire itself. People kill people, not guns. Guns just make it really efficient to kill en-masse. Try the same thing with a knife. That's the point of this thread and people's point.

I have a theory that borderline functional people don't get the help they need, particularly some sort of support group that keeps them mostly sane. Health care and marginalizing everything down the the last cent is the result of quantifying where every cent goes. There are always trade offs, and we chose to not pay for mental health. Heck, I remember how even a chess club kept crazy people off the street. If it were up to me, I would have huge tax breaks for people to open up places where people can get together an socialize cheaply. Bridge, Chess, Bingo, Backgammon, Scrabble, etc etc etc etc. Keep peoples mind challenged and occupied, and they can get through life one day at a time. Make it really attractive for small business owners to open these types of businesses. Art, music, whatever.

Now the rents are so sky high, none of these places can exist anymore. People replace these challenging distractions instead by playing violent games, watching porn, Twitter, Texting, and other behavior that can really wack you out BY ISOLATING YOU and therefore desensitizing you. So, we have people that are thrown away, BIC-people, and some of them, they are going to go violently.

However, reducing the number of guns, and probably far more important, having to go through some sort of rigorous process to attain a gun, might half the number of deaths. It won't eradicate it for sure, but reduce it, of that I am certain. Couple that with understanding that human beings need some sort of inexpensive outlet THAT BRING THEM TOGETHER WITH OTHER HUMAN BEINGS, and the two together would probably take us back to 1970s death by gun violence stats.

I think assault rifles should be illegal. I don't think a colt-45 should be illegal. Any gun with six small caliber rounds like .22, not automatic, should be legal.

Why not make guns with only two or three rounds for protection? Every gun should be finger-print enabled. No one else can use it but the owner. If you sell a gun, you have to go in and have the finger-print chip transferred.
