What do you think of this Fair Tax proposal?

Apparently you won't be satisfied until you are able to specifically direct where your taxes go, and the poor who use most government services are taxed higher than you.
Call the proposal what you will, but IMO it will do wonders for our economy, increase savings and home ownership, and abolish a horrendous tax system with loopholes you Libs love to scream about.

Cut federal spending in half.....sure. I'm sure the Libs are all for cutting programs like welfare, Medicare, etc....
Right, all that debt created under Raygun and Generalissimo Bush was a result of welfare, Medicare, etc.... Vote republican and its nothing more than enriching special interests at the expense of taxpayers.
Then again, why even bother with controlling spending, Cheney says deficits don't matter.

How will a Democratic President, if elected, cut federal spending in half?!? Are you saying welfare, Medicare, and the plethora of programs helping the less fortunate, programs Libs claim are their stock in trade, will not be cut in the process?

Since many say we are a hollowed out service economy and other countries have abused free trade. Would it not be much safer now to erect tariffs since we are a huge net importer.
Drop the income tax and raise revenues with tarriffs with a consumption tax waiting in the wings in case of short falls.
All those chinesse products would cost us more but the money would go to the feds. We would have more to spend and domestic manufacturers could compete.

What would make the other countries not put tariffs on the US goods ? Recall the steel tariffs of 2002. Once Japan and Europe said they would put tarriffs on US goods, Bush dropped the steel tariffs.
