What do you guy's do to prevent tilting?

OP, not sure what platform you're on but Strategy Builder on NinjaTrader works great. I don't code but use excel & powerbi in the dayjob...was able to test and automate a portion of my trading in less than a week.

If you go that route, search for NinjaTrader Paul posts on their forum regarding how to do basic math in the tool. I banged my head against a wall for a bit until I stumbled across his posts/videos.

I am on Ninja as well! Will be looking for his posts, thanks!

There might be little to no correlation between the game and trading, but when it comes to the psychology and in this example tilting, the correlation is very strong ;).

Tilting basically means: "a state of mental or emotional confusion or frustration in which a player adopts a suboptimal strategy, usually resulting in the player becoming overly aggressive"

Now replace the word player with trader and a lot of traders will be familiar with this feeling.

Your trading software would have a setting to close you out beyond your daily loss limit. Are you being a monkey and monkeying with this?

I am thinking about getting a darts board to hang near my desk, so I can get up from my desk and focus on other things while in that trade instead of focussing on everything that could go wrong.
Good idea. Then when ever you deviate from your plan just drive a dart through the back of your hand.

Don't focus on the money. Focus on whether you followed the plan. A good trade can have a bad outcome.

Tilting is in poker. If you tilt in poker, you will also be a losing trader. Invest and find low-stakes poker games, instead. You'll be rich if you follow Dave Ramsey.
If you are still young, INVEST! Work, save, and get out of debt. Millions are multi-millionaires before the age of 50.

"Tilt"? Sounds like you're a poker player. Got news for you... virtually zero correlation between market trading and poker. (Lots of noobs believe there is strong correllation... they are wrong.)
%%
Some things that sound correlated= aren't really correlated @ all.
Like Texas Hold 'Em\ which is just a bull uptrend market hint or rally hint; not a:D:D card tip @ all.:caution::caution:
SH was leaning or tilting the wrong way \closing below 200day moving average\ exit, thats how we handle a wrong way tilt. MSFT leaning right way/ exit also. Dave Ramsey radio+ books helps
Good thing+ confirmation for me \i read about the multimillionaire that went broke in TX,WSJ .
How?? Not playing poker or not poking a bull or bear with a red hot poker.
Had a TX trophy room , trophy wife, trophy elephant in trophy room.
Big, big mistake of ignoring multiple elephant trunk sell signals for days weeks , months
Tilt may not be a problem/leaning tower /Province of Pisa capitalized on it.
