What do students need to learn about day trading?

The fact that you (and maybe some others you know) can't make a living from it doesn't mean that everyone else also can't ... and some members here actually do.

Sorry, I didn't notice that it was your first post. Welcome to the forum. English isn't my first language, either, but evidently we both make ourselves understood with no problem.

It's not relevant at all to what I said (but since you ask, you're completely mistaken with your guess: I'm actually an institutional trader, having previously been successful as an independent/retail trader for many years).

I'm glad to infer from your comments that you're doing well, and I'm sorry that daytrading evidently didn't work out for you in the long-term, but that doesn't change the reality that it did - and does - for some people. Denying that reality in a loudly stated, sweeping generalization is really no more than a demonstration of erroneous beliefs and/or the prejudices eventually produced by those erroneous beliefs.

most of those institutions benefit form their places in the market, not because those people, they employed, know how to daytrade

remove those people from those institutions and ask to daytrade on their own and they will be dead on arrival... why? because, as i said, the edge was not in knowledge or experience but in their place in the market

first off there is nothing special about daytrading , if one knows how to trade one knows how daytrade and vice versa

so it is not that day trading is a trap, the trading in general (or investing) is a trap for most people... they just do not have know-how, neither armatures nor most of the so called professionals on wall street

I come to the conclusion, there are successful day traders. Just like there are successful gamblers, blackjack and poker players. But I have never met one over 25.

exactly! but as most do not make money they are the majority and also in the (negative) postings they are the majority. it is never pleasant to be confronted on a daily basis with the fact that you are too stupid to make money in daytrading. better ignore reality and tell yourself that daytraders always lose. avoids to get in psychological problems.

never noticed that in general people who have some problems post a lot and those who have no problems barely post?
just check how many people post that their car sucks when they have technical problems. and check then how many people post that they are so happy with their car.

Some people will have the constitution for day trading, others wont have.
I tried playing tennis once, it wasn't for me.
I also thought many years ago I would love to have a career in sales, so I got a sales job which I was in for over 25 years until I retired. I began to loathe the job toward the end as it is often deskbound and the industry is full of plastic people.
So, give day trading a go, it may work out, it may not.
If your health begins to deteriorate I would suggest you've become a square peg in a round hole, but try it, you never know.
