People said the same thing in 2016. They swapped Clinton for Biden. No major change. Trump resets nothing. If you want a reset you need a charismatic leader who’s relatable to a significant percentage of the population. If the modern day FDR is out there, I haven’t seen him. Obama was charismatic and full of platitudes, he came at a time people were eager for change, but he was also clearly part of the system of corruption that mostly has kept the status quo in charge.

How was Obama involved in any way in any form of corruption, either directly or indirectly?
He completely capitulated to the system for money and power. Look at where his donations came from. He never sought for major change or showed much effort to change the status quo of his own party. He constantly tried to stay in the mainstream. He felt going outside the mainstream wasn’t pragmatic, hence it took him until 2012 to stop “evolving” on gay marriage and come out in favor of it. Say what you want about Trump, but one thing he did, was he was willing to go after members of his own party (not the swamp part, just those critical of him). Now, only a small percentage of anti-Trumpers remain. Obama did nothing to remake the party in a new image, he was basically a third & fourth term of Bill Clinton.
What should he have done differently? I'm not implying he did everything right, but I'm curious to know where you believe he erred grievously.
As for Trump, he goes after anyone and everyone who doesn't kowtow to him, on either side of the aisle. That's the sum and substance of it. Everything else is incidental.

And Hillary was going to be a 5th term of the same (not of Bill Clinton) weak middle of the road approach. To trump's credit, he did act like a cancer and kill off any healthy cells in the GOP party. Says a lot about the lack of balls of the members who let him take it over by brainwashing the people.
This to me is where most American political problems arise from.
Americans vote via emotions.
If you're Hollywood, rich, smooth talker, good looking, actor, polished bullshit artist, you'll win the votes.
The more that politicians are in front of a camera, the worse their behaviour becomes, they think they have now a godlike character - powerful when in fact its delusional.
Politicians should in reality be backroom boys, behind the scenes working, not in front of a camera pontificating and prancing around "look at me".
