Have a specific DEFINITIONS of a trend. Then you can decide to use TA to help time trading with the trend or against it as in mean reversion. Make sure to pick ONLY 1 trend indicator , ONLY 1 momentum indicator, ONLY 1 volume indicator!! Newbies tend to pick too many of the same type of indicator that obviously coincide. This leads to poor decisions because only a part of the puzzle is known.
%%
That + never confuse a turtle channel with a donchian channel. But several volume indicators could help- taking more time, ................................................................

follow the trend? Buy dips sell rallys?

What are yours?
TA can give you the current status of a trading instrument. Using your understanding of how the market works, and considering your risk tolerance, you make a decision, and act: buy / sell / no trading action. Then, continuously loop on this routine!

The outcome ?
I had a good profit in January but lost a lot of it and I gradually sold off some funds with the 20-50 MACD and 50-day Williams %R system (which I am still using for selling off funds), but there weren't any up-rising funds to buy when using that system for buying. So I changed to buying high-quality, hopefully long-lasting funds.

I got to thinking if it's extreme 20-50 MACD strength I want to buy, I ought to have a way of screening for it.
