What are the Futures symbols?

I have never traded futures before but lately I have found myself interested in checking them out. What symbol do I need to type in order to look at S&P mini's and Nasdaq mini's charts? I have no clue.

ES (S&P 500 e-mini) & NQ (NASDAQ 100 e-mini) ... plus U2 or 02U (depending on your quote service) for the september contracts ... provided you´re subscribed to the CME e-minis

i guess it depends on your charting package - try the following:

nasdaq: nq02u or nqu2

s&p: es02u / esu2



edit: these are for livecharts / qcharts
 
For Nextrend customers the current symbols for the Sept contracts are:

NQP2'CM for the Naz emini.
ESP2'CM for the S&P emini.
 
I recommend Direct Access Futures written by Silverman. Hes a bud of mine so I am bias but its a great book on futures imo
