The best one I've used is called youtube-dl. Completely free and open source, no adware, spyware, etc. It works for YouTube allowing you to download the video, entire playlists and channels, or just the audio at whichever bit rate you prefer. It even works on many other, um, video sites if that's your thing. I use it religiously and highly recommend it.

@easymon1 Sorry, bit late on this reply as I did not see the thread until now. I never had a problem with the freemake.com downloader.

youtube-dl is GREAT!!! I use it all the time to save tubes to my hard drive for later viewing and re viewing. Of course you need a grown-up operating system to use it. I use Ubuntu, myself.

Oh, I see it works on WinDOHs now. That's interesting.
