What am I supposed to do now?

it's the truth....and get this...the guy I work for...he is 70 years old. Anyways I have been working real hard on my trading and maybe something good will come from it. It's just that I need to build my track record for two years.

I have my health and Wifey and I just have never made the right decisions when I should have. I have been "happy-go-lucky" and now realize I am a little trapped. But don't all of us grow older, and someone can come along and take all your money anyways?...(I see it everyday in my job, and I try to help companies, which are people, when I can....the atty's say I am a soft touch, but they continue to hire me to do the dirty work of collecting the money)

This thread has really made me rethink my life, as I am 24 and have been trading instead of getting work for the last 1.5 years after getting my B.S. It sounds like I should get a job and quit trading in order to salvage what is left of my life.
I'm am now considering putting my whole account on one highly leveraged trade. It will either make me rich or I will go broke and have to join the work force in order to pay the bills.
Any ideas? I have a futures broker that allows me to trade almost anything. Long Natural Gas futures sound like a good idea as the volatility will make me or break me in one day.
 
michael b is speaking the truth. 95% of this board is bs. maybe 3 out of every 100 guys who start out trading fulltime will be making a decent living 5 years from now. i've been doing it 18 years and if i had it over again i'd have bought a business somewere along the way and positioned traded. the truth is outside a few guys that make huge money one has to make 150k a year plus to equal a guy making 60k with ibm. the guy at ibm gets health ins, disability coverage,14k a year into 401k, sick days and holidays plus he can leave his investments alone to grow. 99% of traders can't say a time for the futures as they msut live off there money. i'd get on with your life and trading will always be here

You should do what I do. Move to Las Vegas and get a job as a dealer. I trade emini during the morning and early lunch hours. Then go to work around 11am and work my shift. I make a great living as a dealer... Now only if I can get this trading thing down life would be great. Life in Vegas is good and anyone can start at any age. The only person holding you back at anything is, well, hmmm, you. You are never too old for anything, you just make the excuse. :cool:
 
I am allergic to cigerette smoke...I think my answer is in trading. It's just that I am very conservative and make about 30% a year. My friends tell me in here, that 30% is good but not excellent, and all I need is a two-year track record and maybe I can jumpstart my compounding with OPM.

Well you can still come to Vegas and get a job as a dealer. Inhale the smoke, get sick and claim disability :D ... Or sue the casino saying they provided a unsafe working condition
 
Yes I could do that...and I am well-connected :) But I am going to try the trading gig for now...I think trading is a "calling".

I make these atty's money, why can't I make institutions and investors money?

Let me say this to those of you that want to trade OPM...

How could you trade another persons money if you did not earn the wisdom?

How could you trade another persons money that has gone through the same trials in life that you and everybody goes through, without taking the responsibilty that lifes wisdom has taught you?

How could you accept someones trust, but be able to disassociate yourself from them and make them the money that they expect and allow them to feel good about the decision that they made?

Ask yourself this...Could you make somebody or some institution money without them ever knowing who the trader is? Could you just be an anoymous numbers producer?

Do your soul search and be truthful to yourself. What do YOU expect out of life? Trading is just a job too...

P.S. I am told by seasoned managers that what I just wrote is from a person who could never trade OPM. You really just must trade and who gives a shit....
