what am I missing about FCX?

So what is sending this stock south?....I find it odd that it is going down as gold is soaring to new highs...as I've watched FCX, it has traded closely with the gold moves, along with other mining companies...I know FCX is mostly copper, but it seemed to be attached to Gold in the past.

I must be missing something (I seem to be saying this a lot lately :))
 
Copper is taking a beating today. Copper producers are getting smashed. Steel (X, MT) is also getting beat up. FCX is just one of many.
 
Do not use FCX to bet on gold in this environment. If you want to play miners, go to a GOLD miner, like EGO.

Though, you're better off with the GLD
 
FCX has excellent fundamentals and it gives dividends. This is a stock you buy, hold, and accumulate for the long term.

Might take the funny of the year award --0.9% dividend and it went down 2.5% just today alone :)
