On Fox’s The Five tonight, Jesse Watters said the media’s acting rather hypocritical on President Trump‘s statements on the violence in Charlottesville.

He said Trump couldn’t have won with the media no matter what he did, saying of the first statement, “Just because he didn’t name names doesn’t make him a racist, it just opened up the door for people to unfairly smear him as a racist.”

He went on to say this about the hypocrisy of the liberal media:

“There’s a lot of hypocrisy going on here. Hillary Clinton waited two weeks after Benghazi to call that terrorism. If Trump had blamed Charlottesville on a video, maybe he would have gotten a free pass. President Obama waited four days during Ferguson while that city burned, and he was in Martha’s Vineyard.”

Well... I didn't see anything wrong with it. Color me naive I guess. Had ANYBODY else said the same thing, it would be a non-event.

And as I have said many times before, no matter the color of our skin, we all live under the same laws; we all salute the same great flag; and we are all made by the same almighty God. Yours is not the speech from Saturday, it is the re-statement following the uproar.

A smart man (who does not want to as cynical as this) might wonder if the first line was intentionally re-used but this time removing the 'on many sides' so the two would be confused in the squishy memory of the public.
