WH forced to walk back Biden remarks, says he won't back handgun sale ban

“He does not support a ban on the sale of all handguns, to answer your question,” the press secretary added in response to Fox News’ Peter Doocy, who had asked: “Canada is making it impossible to buy, sell, transfer, or import handguns anywhere in that country. Would President Biden ever consider a similar restriction on handguns here?”

One day earlier, Biden appeared to suggest there should be restrictions on the 9mm pistol — the most popular handgun in the US.

“They said a .22-caliber bullet will lodge in the lung, and we can probably get it out — may be able to get it and save the life,” the president told reporters outside the White House on Monday after visiting the site of a mass shooting in Texas the day before. “A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body.

“So the idea of these high-caliber weapons is, uh, there’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of thinking about self-protection, hunting,” added Biden, implying the pistol is a “high-caliber weapon” despite not being characterized as such by most gun experts.

I posted the video where Biden was explaining to a reporter who is more of an idiot than he is that a 9mm bullet can "blow the lung clear out of the body".
 
So Tackleberry says clear out of the body and Biden said "A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body."

Anyone trained in dealing with gunshot knows a lung "blow out" is when the rupture in the lung allows air to enter the cavity surrounding the lungs. There is a self-sealing capacity but there is a limit to this.

Of course the Tackleberry the mall-ninja skipped that part of training as he only cares about padding around with his butterball buds in the woods. Field medic course is for grown-ups.

This is true, and poor old Joe doesn't know much about weapons, which is fine, he should just leave it to people who do to do the talking. Yes, a 9mm is more likely to cause a sucking chest wound, which is more likely to be fatal, which is a good thing considering when you shoot someone you're trying to kill them. So yea, I'll take the 9 over a 22 if I'm out to kill. Politicians arguing over caliber is more senseless rhetoric when we/they should be debating why are we trying to kill each other at such a prolific rate? It's a quick fix which will only result in killers becoming more creative.

We're not talking about a chest sucking wound. The comment he made verbatim was "A 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body". And then he goes on about a 9mm being a "high caliber weapon".

Whether stupid or lying or both, this kind of bullshit language is intended to evoke an emotional reaction from equally stupid individuals. "Oh my God! Blows the lung outside of the body!?!?"

If I'm buying a pistol for self defense, I want something that can knock an attacker down. At least a 9mm or .38 Special. A .22 round can be shrugged off by a strong attacker unless the victim gets lucky. It is the type of round fired by a tiny Derringer a woman can keep in her purse.
