We're Lucky To Have Tillerson

The idea, though misguided, is that Kim will see the united force and back down. But we've never been able to understand fanatics in this country. We always do the wrong thing.
Not saying they didn't, but when did China try to overthrow him from within?
Also, I think there's plenty more room to turn up the heat on the freeze/starve thing if China wants to. And this last test might finally do the trick for that. Especially if we guarantee China we have no desire to expand our bases next to their border.

Not really. Kim is more like a radical left thug, or right wing thug if you like, that has your home address and keeps showing up in your driveway making threats. That cannot be ignored and then feign surprise when the shit hits the fan. There are no easy answers here, but just pretending the guy poses no real threat is simply the wrong way to go.

The NK regime has shown they are not suicidal. They are not going to do any that will make The US rain down nukes on them unless we attack them first. What do they have to gain by having a nuclear war with The US?

Why do we have to do drills anyway? Its not like we can't level the place. The outcome will be the same. S Korea will suffer horrendous losses. Whats the point of the drills?

Once again agreed. How would we feel if China or Russia were doing live fire war drills off our coast with 30,000 troops in Cuba for the sole purpose of war with The US.

* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six-party_talks
"The six-party talks aim to find a peaceful resolution to the security concerns as a result of the North Korean nuclear weapons program. There has been a series of meetings with six participating states in Beijing[1]:

South Korea South Korea
North Korea North Korea
United States United States of America
China China
Japan Japan
Russia Russia

These talks were a result of North Korea withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in 2003. Apparent gains following the fourth and fifth rounds were reversed by outside events. Five rounds of talks from 2003 to 2007 produced little net progress[2] until the third phase of the fifth round of talks, when North Korea agreed to shut down its nuclear facilities in exchange for fuel aid and steps towards the normalization of relations with the United States and Japan.[3][4] Responding angrily to the United Nations Security Council's Presidential Statement[5] issued on April 13, 2009 that condemned the North Korean failed satellite launch, the DPRK declared on April 14, 2009 that it would pull out of Six Party Talks and that it would resume its nuclear enrichment program in order to boost its nuclear deterrent.[6] North Korea has also expelled all nuclear inspectors from the country.[7] "

that two statements do not agree with each other....
Yeah, you're right. I should have wrote... "I'm glad he has a good dialogue with Putin". At least I think he does. Either way, he is a man of great intelligence and integrity.

I think he's a man of incredible intelligence and integrity. I'm also glad he's friends with Putin. We need cool heads right now. We are sitting on a powder keg. One minor incident... a nervous soldier... or a pilot flying to close to something... could set the whole thing off.

Lets hope Tillerson's relationship with Putin will embolden Putin to use whatever leverage he might have with China to do what it needs to do to de-fuse this thing. Or else millions are going to die and the world's economies are going to be thrown into the dark ages. There is no doubt in my mind that North Korea has the ability right now with nasty conventional weapons of the chemical and biological kind to launch a deadly attack on Japan's mainland, Singapore, and our West Coast. This will not be limited to the Korean Peninsula.

Trump drew a line in the sand... and that scares me. This is essentially a very high stakes poker game and Kim is is holding pocket aces. Trump has no choice but to back down and eat crow. He has to realize...that even if North Korea could miniaturize a nuke and figure out re-entry, they'll never launch on us. We might just have to accept them being a nuclear power, and spend our $'s on the technology to shoot those fuckers in outer-space if it comes down to that.

Its really possible that the fate of our civilization as we know it rests in the hands of one man, and its not Trump. Its Tillerson. He'll do the right thing, and he'll stand up to Trump even more-so than the generals will. I truly believe that. And he won't quit the job either. He knows whats at stake, and its not Trump's fucking ego. We're lucky to have him.

When looking backwards, Trump almost always has set up hedges on both sides or triple sides or even multiple sides. Therefore, he believes he can always win, depending merely on which one of the multiple sides finally reaching the final line first.

Good hedge strategy! Trump will definitely win something, no matter Who else would win more!

Google the news when Kim decided to kill his brother and (I think) uncle.

If we were constantly and overtly threatening to fire nuclear weapons at them, you might see such a thing.
