Went To The Mall Today

Quote from nutmeg:

Point being, "went to the mall today" is probably an accurate assumption on the economy as anything else written that we'll read in the near future but without all the fluff. [/B]

Ehh not really. Personally, I've never been to a mall that didn't seem like it lacked parking..So the fact that the mall is "packed" at the busy time of the year means basically zero.

Peter Lynch and Jim Rogers both make/made decisions this way.

trade what you know---it makes as much sense as listening to economic reports!

To echo the OP's original comment. My wife and I had another couple over for some drinks last night and we wanted to get Chinese food. I went to the usual place, and there was a line out the door! I thought it was National Chinese Food night. So I skipped it as some strange anomoly and went to the Italian place down the road for take out - jam packed - 1 hour wait just for take out! Passed two more restaurants - parking was overflowing.

Recession, eh?

Recession, eh?

It was a plan to get Obama elected, nothing more.

News media has planed years ahead; just look so many tv shows with a black president.

It is time to change. :D

Funny you mention Chinese food. We ordered Chinese take out last night, get this, 35 minute wait.

I went to my favorite watering hole friday for happy hour TARPON BEND ...always nice business crowd , beautiful women and one of my fav beers 2 for 1 special ( Stella )...it was empty this week and the place next to it which was always packed was closed down....I thought to myself dayum tough times ahead....that was until I got to Novecento and couldnt get a drink for 30 minutes.....

Business as usual around here... just at a different hole... :D

Novecento on the beach closed down a couple weeks ago...but the one in Brickell definately is alwasy packed

Quote from Landis82:

and expected to find a parking spot in an empty parking lot with ease . . . To my amazement, I had to spend 15 minutes going up 6 levels of a parking garage at a Mall in California in order to find a parking place!

The entire mall was jammed with shoppers . . . and they were buying merchandise and carrying lots of bags back out to their car. Macy's, Nordstrom's, Borders Books, The Apple Store . . . you name it!

It was an amazing sight.
No recession here!

And all this on a Saturday afternoon with tons of great college football games on TV.

Same here. Malls packed. I could not even get in the parking lot at Trader Joes yesterday. At Whole Food had to wait for parking space. Been like this for weeks.

One thing you need to keep in mind is that media no loger reports "news". There job is to scare you 24/7.
