weird block sizes?

I am looking at the tape and I notice sometimes you will see things like

30.82 5000
30.82 5000
30.82 5000
30.83 5000

why not just 1 trade at 20000?

and whats with the weird trades that have odd counts, like

30.72 10147

etc..
 
I read that now there is some kind of darknet where some of the bigger firms trade with each other on a different type of network so that the transactions do not show up on the regular tape. I am not sure if that is true or not..

So bots are those quantitive trading programs right?
