Weekly SPX options and MiniSPX

"CBOE launched Mini-SPX options today (ticker symbol XSP).

Volume in the first two hours of trading has been about 21,000 contracts.

This new contract is 1/10th the size of the full-value SPX contract, which is CBOE's most actively traded contract.

Current XSP price is about $119.53. The November 120 calls are trading at about $1.25 per contract ($125.00)

Last week was the busiest week ever in SPX options with 2,709,318 contracts trading.

Total volume for September in SPX options was 6.5 million contracts. Average daily volume for SPX options during September was 309,304 contracts.

Worldwide, S&P 500 Index products are the most actively traded contracts in the world by notional value."


this was from Jon Lothians Blog. He is at the Cbot and does a daily newsletter on the Financial Markets/Futures industry. I am shocked by the volume.

thanks for the info. Spread is only 5 cents , I wonder what the spread will be for the weeklies.
 
Well,

If I have the underlying right for IB I am very confused.

First, you can't tell what week.

Second, there don't seem to be an DEC contracts.

Finally, looks like no volume.

Anyone else trying to track these with IB?

do you actually see words "weeklies" ? What ticker ?
 
No I don't see weeklies. If you check the description of the contract I think is correct (XSP) the strikes are right but the time frame is not...

thanks. I think you are looking at regular NOV options
