Web Services (instead of API) for IB

I called IB tech support today. They stated that they do not offer web services for trading. I understand that web services are a better way for computer-to-computer information exchange as compared to an API.

Does anyone know of a third party that offers a web service for either getting data from IB or for trading with IB?

Web Services have way too much overhead to be used for these kind of applications. (In an application like IB, 99% of the message would describe the schema). So if you want to get your data across as FAST as possible, you need to get rid of the 99% of useless stuff.

I agree. Web services are a good technology, but not for something that needs the speed that trading does.
