The NYT threatened to publish emails if Trump Jr. didn't take a particular action? Sounds like textbook blackmail to me. Are you accusing the NYT of blackmail?

Actually Hillary's emails were emails sent and received during official duty as a member of the State Department so they were property of the State Department and Hillary had no say over what was and wasn't released. The emails should have been stored on secure State Department servers with custodial rights being given to the State Department, not Hillary. Hillary circumvented this process by setting up her own server that she had custodial rights to which meant she could delete emails at her will without any review process. One could argue that she deleted emails that did not show her in a positive light. When you couple this with the fact that she also was storing classified information on this server and sending it too her team in a non-secure manner, it really turned into a big scandal. Hillary of course, stonewalled through the entire investigation.

Hillary still maintains to this day that the rules regarding the preservation of government documents as well as the secure storage and transmission of classified information do not apply to her.

You said NYT threatened to release the emails. What was the threat? What did the NYT claim they would do if Jr released the email, what would they do if he didn't?

And then comey said she didn't intend to do anything wrong.
