"I Got Schooled" is a book which addresses the education problem. The most staggering statistic in the book is, if you test only white suburban schools, USA ranks top in the world, even beating the shit out of Finland, which everybody uses as a model since they rank top in the world right now. Where as if you test only black inner city schools, they rank very low in the world, lower than most third world countries.
The breakthrough by this author in my opinion was to address the issue of race, without fear of being accused as a racist.
It became obvious to me when all the NFL domestic abuse cases were being discussed in the media. Many single mother commentators claimed it was because football was such a violent sport. But if you have ever watched hockey, they let the players throw down the gloves and beat the shit out of each other while the refs just casually stand by and watch and let the players get the violence out of their system. Yet, there are very few if any news stories about hockey players nailed for domestic violence. What is the difference? Just take a look at all those pictures of NFL players in trouble. What do they have in common? But the media is unwilling to address the problem, just like the education system is unwilling to address the problem because that would be racist. So to me, the problem isn't with the violence in the NFL, the problem is within in the black race in America. But nobody is willing to get on tv and ask, "What is wrong with black athletes?" because that would get them fired faster than Nick the Greek. So they only ask, "What is wrong with NFL?" Even though all the violators in the NFL which has a larger percentage of black players are black, and an equally violent sport like hockey has very few violators where the players are for the most part Canadian or white.
Other than the nutcases on ET, I doubt any thinking white person believes blacks are in any way genetically different from whites, yet the problems we as a nation are facing seem to be concentrated in the black culture many people live in. Is it because they have been discriminated against, or because they were brought here as slaves instead of willing immigrants? I don't know, but someone needs to address the problem as a race problem without being accused of being a racist.
