We are viewed as hypocrites: we do not do what we preach

You need to understand what IS hypocrisy...

There is a scale to everything in the universe - also degrees of truth.
When you start out saying you are at one extreme, but then go to the other end of the scale - then you are called a hypocrite.

But like everything in life - hypocrisy is just about being able to use evolution and adaptation.
