We Are In The Process Of Completely Losing America-- Michael Snyder

I'm not having any problems so far, many years on. I file taxes separately for the US and Canada. H&R Block does this for me. Yes, for years that US citizens have no US income they still have to file a $0 return (not required in Canada), but the Block's fee for that is minimal.
I avoid Canada for business purposes.

My family once made a pile of money up there. Those assets ended up trapped in Canada due to threat of double taxation. It took years to unwind.

I don't know their circumstances but I have never worried about double taxation. The two countries do have shared provisions to prevent that kind of thing (just as they coordinate retirement benefits to prevent doubling). But maybe that's newer than your family's situation.

Yes old information, it was decades ago.

It did leave an impression though.

Isn't Here4BS Canadian? Funny, he has so much interest in US politics when he does not even have US citizenship and cannot vote in US elections? He just hates President Donald Trump while, loving his soy boy President Justin Trudeau?

I've taken it right up to the line but I'm being told that it makes sense to retain citizenship due to the structure and source of my income. For me there is no real escape and I could easily end up paying US and foreign income tax simultaneously. Even if my income was derived from purely foreign sources I would be subject to US taxation for 10 years. I don't know how the big boys do it but at my level I'm trapped somewhat.

US taxes never seem that bad to me, well before Trump taking to my salaried US cousins as I used to be, they seemed like a pretty good deal from my European perspective though property taxes were silly high. Well until you throw in health insurance and the wretched indentured slave system of doing it through your employer. :)

That said, when you get really rich you pay near to nothing almost anywhere. I had my few years of near nosebleed trading and sitting on a lot now but there is always a scheme where some country gives a deal and even tells you how to beat their system.

Of course I can't spent any of it now on the travel I planned, getting too old to enjoy money very much. Climbing Aconcagua next year I hope.

But America the land will continue whether we can imagine its path or not as a nation.

I admire that your goal often seems to be to do stuff, like summit peaks etc. It says to me that a person has really good priorities when they are so inclined.

I don't see the point of being the richest guy in the cemetery. I don't have that much stuff now and want to keep it simple. Its all about experiences, that and family. There isn't much else that matters really.

I don't have any inner source of inspiration, its just something in the family. We give each other "missions" (that particular mountain involves one). Last year I paid for my daughter's trip to Israel to a wedding on the proviso she went to meet an old friend of mine and learn to make the perfect sfenj, basically a doughnut. Her Sri Lanka trip involved acquiring some fresh tea leaf tips from a particular village.

Always a catch :) but the "mission" makes things interesting as it forces you to go out of the usual tourist zones.

...

And when Donald Trump Jr. tried to share the video on Twitter, his entire account got partially suspended.

At this point, freedom of speech is essentially dead on our major social media platforms, and because they have such a dominant position in our marketplace of ideas, that means that freedom of speech has been severely crippled in our society as a whole.

Freedom of religion is being greatly eroded as well...

Thankfully, we have enough smart people left in our "getting stupider-and-stupider" country to call out the BS when we see it. And that doctor from Nigeria is just flat out wrong!

There was some doctor similar to her who claimed the same treatment, but also prescribed losartan in the COVID regimen.

Look, kids, here's the deal. You simply do not prescribe a hypertension medicine to people without hypertension. Why is this a difficult fucking concept?

Why prescribe a malaria medication to people without malaria? The off-label indication complications can be worse than the symptoms you are trying to quench!

The US is not perfect as a country but, despite, all the hateful, extreme liberals telling us the US is the worst country on the planet, 1,000,000 immigrants wait their turn to enter the US to pursue the American dream every single year. Tens of millions more wait patiently, in line. On top of that, extreme liberals of Hollywood who love to preach to us that the US as a country is pretty bad, all still live in the US? All utter hypocrites. They know this is still the best country to be in. Why did US haters Prince Harry and Meghan Markle come to the US instead, of move back to the UK after leaving Canada? Isn't Canada a great country like extreme liberals in Hollywood like to tell us? None, of these extreme liberals in Hollywood have left for Canada inspite, of their numerous threats to leave the US if President Donald Trump was elected US President? What is stopping these extreme liberal actors and actresses? Atleast, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson moved to Greece so, we got 2 US hating extreme liberals out of the US. Now, we can only hope the rest of the lot follow suit once, President Donald Trump is re-elected to a 2nd term.

America is slipping away a little bit more with each day that passes!

:(

My sentiments exactly... but if I'd penned it, would have contained swear words!

Surely y'all can do better than this . :banghead: .
