WCRX Warner Chilcott $8.50 Divided anyway to play this?

todays action has most to do with the FDA letter

not the dividend

Quote from failed_trad3r:

its up because of pre dividend buying. i have noticed alot of stocks run up in super dividend anncouncements. Afterwrads they drop more then 100-120% of the dividend price.

So best way to play this is buy now, sell before ex dividend, rebuy after ex-dividend

anyone have any idea what time frame it will be before they let us know the details of the FDA letter?

i am not sure why there would be any delay

they said

DJ Warner Chilcott: FDA Granted In Part, Denied In Part Various Aspects Of Citizen Petition

Warner Chilcott: Impact Of FDA Response Will Depend Upon Particular Facts Of ANDA Filed Referencing Asacol And/Or Asacol HD

why dont they just let eveyone know the facts?

or is this how the do it?

"The special cash dividend is payable to shareholders of record on August 30, 2010 and will be paid on September 8, 2010."

So this means buy the stock up to 8/30 & receive the dividend payment on 9/8?

Shares of WC "traded" after Aug. 30 and before Sept 9 will have a due bill attached for the special cash dividend payable on Sept 8 a requirement of Nasdaq rules regarding dividends that exceed 25 percent of a company's stock price.

Traded? That doesn't mean, if you sold between those dates you owe the equivalent of the dividend does it? ( attached due bill?) And "payable" can mean by the shareholder or to the shareholder. Imprecise language makes me cautious.

You'll have to hold it and suffer the drop if you want to get the dividend.

Normal dividends you just have to hold til ex-dividend dates right? But this one is special cuz the dividend made up 25%+ of their current value so to collect the dividend you have to hold it til Sept 8th?

Alot of good it does to wait for the dividend if its just going to tank on you its equivalent. Seems like nothing more than a
legitimized pump and dump. Last one out? No reason for it
to have ever climbed after the announcement in the first place.

Why is that? They're paying for it out of debt issuance. Look at the atm puts and calls.
