Just because they don't have to pay back the debt, doesn't mean their credit scores will not have the same sting as if they still had to make payments. Unless they don't have credit scores in Canada? Dunno' how it works there.

The article I read from CBC mentioned it was weird that they didn’t sell the debt to a third party. I thought that was the standard anyway. Sell the junk debt to someone that’s willing to harass the debt holder to death.

We have Equifax and Transunion up here. I don’t know the details but as long as they were meeting the minimum payments their credit score shouldn’t be effected I would think .

Unless Chase doesn't report this move all affected debtors credit utilization will drop and their score will go up.

So Canadians do have a credit scoring system then, with personal identifiers. I did not know this. So they have a system like SS# in place? *shrugs* How do they track their taxpayers?
